::  about us

The official BVB fan club Christoph Metzelder FC was founded in August 2000, one month after Christoph had joined the club. Currently the fan club has got 25 regular members and two honorary members: Christoph Metzelder and his brother Malte Metzelder.

First and foremost, we support Borussia Dortmund. However, we have also taken a special liking to Christoph (he is, after all, the raison d'être of our fan club). We want to promote friendship among football fans and last but not least, we want to have loads of fun together.

Why do we do it?

This fan club is based on the simple, but truthful, assumption that:

A player who feels welcome and at home at a club plays longer and better for this club.

Christoph with a gift from his fan clubBasically, all human beings – and professional football players are no exception – like praise and are prepared to perform better to get more. If a player is prepared to do more, our club will benefit, too. This is why this fan club was founded, i.e. to make a player feel at home at Borussia Dortmund, make him give his very best for the success of Borussia Dortmund and have fun.

Even before Christoph decided to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the 2006/07 season, the fan club called a meeting to decide whether to dissolve the fan club in that case or continue. As you can see, we're still here – the vote for continuing was almost unanimous. In fact, new members started flowing in, even after it became known that Christoph was definitely on the move. Actually, new members even signed up during Christoph's official farewell party in May 2007.

What are our principles?

We support Borussia Dortmund.
If you don't like our club, there's no way we'll let you join.
Fairness, respect and tolerance.
These are our fundamental principles. This is why we tolerate other clubs' supporters in this fan club if they like Christoph so much that they want to become members of an official BVB fan club. We treat friend and foe fairly (well, at most times) and respect not only other people's opinions, but also the players' privacy.
Against racism and xenophobia.
We do not tolerate those at all.
For a minimum of knowledge regarding football
It is not quite sufficient to be in love with Christoph's dreamy doe eyes to become a member of our fan club. We are football fans and if you don't know much of the game, we'll make you! If you're not interested, though – just forget it and go somewhere else.
Against violence and counter-violence in and around the pitch.
We are against any form of corporal violence in the stadium and in its vicinity, regardless of who started it. We are also against unjust and insufferable repressions of security personnel, whether of the state or privately run.
For black-and-yellow jerseys.
We do not except any colours other than black and yellow on our team's kit. We are proud to be fundamentalists in that respect.
Against whistles against our own team.
Whistling against one's team is neither intelligent nor helpful, just like leaving the stadium in the 85th minute when the score is 0:1.
For keeping traditions at Borussia Dortmund.
This means that the club's anthem is sung in its original version whenever and wherever there is an occasion. This means that our team plays in the Westfalenstadtion – at times that cater for the fans' needs and not solely the marketing interests of TV stations.
